Technology, in my opinion, is at a turning point where we will either look back and consider it as really helpful (helping humans realise their authentic life) or detrimental in a few decades (spirals humanity into fantasies, distractions, and unnecessarily efficiency). Here are the advantages and disadvantages of technology advancement that I can perceive.
Positives
- With the help of technology, it's easier than ever to try new things, find new adventures, and connect with individuals you may never otherwise meet. What you discover through technology may be your lifeline for realising that the globe, cultures, and values are far wider than what your town alone conveys if you spend your adolescence locked in the Midwest suburbs.
- More persons we may otherwise lose touch with can be "checked into" thanks to technology. Living in a metropolis makes it all too easy to lose touch with or forget regarding specific acquaintances, classmates, or employees. Apps like Facebook, Twitter, or Linkedin keep connections alive, allowing us to build stronger bonds with more people.
- Objectively speaking, technology improves living conditions and increases satisfaction. Today's lower middle-class worker enjoys more luxuries, facilities, and access to resources than the billionaires of the early 1900s because to technological advances and globalisation.
Negatives
- People can "hide" using bogus fantasy identities because to technology. Technology may allow us to "hide" in fake fantasy representations of our-self without actually confronting our genuine selves, whether you are an internet troll, an internet robber, an obsessive fancy gamer, or a bit too outspoken Yelp user.
- Live human engagement is not a replacement for technology. I continually witness the strength of in-person interactions over merely internet ones as the owner of an event business. When we are face to face with someone, we are biologically predisposed to connect with them on a deeper level mentally. No podcast, live broadcast, or Face-time can ever completely replace human connection.
- People in certain groups who lack the means to swiftly retrain for the labour market have their employment stolen by technology. Self-driving cars may reduce the cost of my cabs in half, but they will also result in an increase in our unemployment benefits as we help unemployed taxi drivers.
